Major in Child Development

The child development major (CHDV) is a multidisciplinary program that includes nine disciplines: Child Development, Communication Sciences & Disorders, Criminal Justice & Anthropology, Education, Nursing, Nutritional Sciences, Psychology, Social Work, and Sociology. Its interdisciplinary focus is designed to give students comprehensive insights into the issues of child development. A total of 124 hours is required.

Minimum requirements for application to major:

  • Completed at least 30 hours
  • Have taken or are concurrently enrolled in a CHDV course
  • Minimum GPA 2.5
  • Pass a criminal background check

Application deadlines are September 1st for the Fall semester and February 1st for the Spring semester. See www.child.tcu.edu for application link.
